Austin turned 8 on June 1st. He had a lot of friends over for a fun "Ben 10 Alien Party" It was complete with an obstacle coarse, water slide, climbing wall and lots of water balloons.

Austin even wanted to decorate his own cake! So all I did was bake and frost it and write on it. He situated all the guys on it and embelished it with frosting. He took lessons on his cake decorating skills from his Dad. He was very impressed with the last couple of cakes he decorated so he wanted to try his hand at it. I think he did a great job! Like I said before, no bakery could come up with whats in my boys imaginations. So they are left to do the job themselves!

I told Austin he must be living right because the night before his party there was a thunderstorm followed by a lot of rain. It rained all night and all the next morning. About an hour before the party I told him we were going to have to move the party inside and hurry and come up with some new indoor games before his guests arrived. He was so disappointed because he was really looking forward to his Ben 10 obstacle coarse he and his brothers made up. I just didn't see the rain letting up anytime soon. So we quickly came up with a back up indoor game party. Then miraculously about 10 minutes before his party started, the dark clouds parted and the sun shone brightly through onto his obstacle coarse. I swear there wasn't a dark cloud in the sky and the sky was beautifully blue! So we had our outdoor party after all. In fact it got so hot, nearly 80 degrees I had to go change my clothes I was feeling too warm. It was perfect weather for a water balloon fight! Then about 2 minutes after his friends left and the party was over, I kid you not, dark clouds moved in and it started pouring rain!!! Ron and I were cleaning up the party in the rain as quickly as we could before we got soaked. We both felt so grateful for the beautiful hour and a half weather we had that day and truly felt it a small miracle just for Austin! He absolutly loved his Party!!!

Some reasons why I love Austin so much:
- He always seems to be so happy! He just brightens your day with his sweet smile and little voice!
- He lives life to the fullest. He thouroughly enjoys every little pleasure in life and makes the most of it.
- He's very kind hearted and loving. We can all get him to do whatever we want just because he loves us so much and wants us to be happy.
- He's very good at sharing. He finds joy in it and isn't happy doing things alone. He wants to share his good fortune with everyone.
- He's always had a lot of friends. He just makes friends easily and is a fun loving kid to be around. He is definatly my social butterfly.
- He still amazes me at how good of a reader he is. He reads so smoothly and can read such big words even though he has no idea what they mean.
- He also has a strong desire to do what's right. I don't know what it is but my husband and I are so blessed to have such good kids that are such a good example to us. It makes us want to be better parents for them. They desereve the best they are that good!
- Austin is actually the one that got our family started on regular scripture study. He would ask us why we don't do that, and then told us that he would like to read scriptures as a family. So he's the one that got us started reading scriptures each morning before school. I still find that so amazing that a little boy could have that much influence on us as a family. I sure love Austin and am so thankful I get to be his Mom!
