Meanwhile, back at the Ranch...

Ron and his friend, Darin left for the summer to work in Denver. So before they left, both our families took a trip to Darin's Family Ranch. We had a fun weekend with them. It was so nice to get away from everyday life and enjoy time together.
As soon as we pulled into the driveway and got out of the car, we heard a funny noise and discovered this... What?! The Batmobile had it's first flat tire!
The culprit...this nasty, rusty strip of sharp metal.
I love to see how manly my boys are. There's just something about it. I love seeing my hubby teach my boys to be handy men like him.
These two pretty much changed the tire by themselves! Ron was mostly just a by stander looking on making sure they knew what they were doing.
Oh yeah, baby!
And the Batmobile is up and running!
So this is the Ranch house. It is over a hundred years old! It was pretty cool inside to see a lot of the original architecture and doors. I know, I should have taken pictures of the inside. I don't know what I was thinking. Darin and his family stayed in here.
Our family stayed in this bunk house. This picture is the front of it.
This is the back.
It was so cool inside. It totally reminded me of Little House on the Prairie. It was almost identical to their house. And built probably around the same time. The boys slept in the loft and Ma and Pa slept in the bed down below. It was awesome. I love Little House! I always wanted to be Laura Ingalls. Oh well, I got to be Caroline for a night anyway.
Tyler at Walnut Grove fishing hole. ;)
The only part of the trip I didn't love was a houseful of NINE little dogs just like this one. I was more than happy to sleep in the bunk house away from these guys. My kids, on the other hand, were in heaven. I swear, just because Ron and I are not animal lovers, our kids are crazy about them. It's the thought of wanting something they know they can't have.
I loved sitting on the porch swing and looking out into the mountains. The song kept coming into my head "Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies" the whole time we were there. This earth truly is beautiful and amazing. I'm glad my family got to get away for a minute and enjoy it!
We hiked.
We rode 4wheelers.
We explored caves.
Darin's family consists of all girls. Five to be exact. Six, if you count his wife, Michelle. Courtney loved it because her best friend is their third daughter, Brinley. She loved playing with her and the dogs. They had such a good time together. I don't think my boys had such a bad time either with all those cute girls around! Although they would never admit it.
It was a great weekend. Thank You Farnsworth Family!!!

How WONDERFUL! Minus the dogs - I am SOOOO not an animal lover either - but our kids... You are right. It's the curse of parents with sanity to have children of the opposite oppinion! So how are you doing with Ron away? We totally need to play! Call me - because we both know that you never answer when I call!!!
