Look What We Found!

Our kids discovered this nest on the back of our camp trailer. It has been fun for all of us to watch the stages of the egg hatching.
Every time we came out to get a little peak, the momma bird would squawk real loud at us. She was very protective. I thought she was a very smart bird to build her nest there because it was protected on three sides from the wind and had the trailer roof over it too.

That's nice that it was built where you can leave. We had one building on our front steps lights which we had to get rid of. I like your background!

If the kids weren't protecting it those eggs could have been scrambled.

A swallow recently built a nest on one of our crawlers at work (it's a building-sized tracked vehicle used for moving heavy canisters) and laid eggs in it. Unfortunately, since the swallow is a migratory bird, the law says we can't disturb the nest until the eggs hatch. With one nest that darn bird put out of commission one of only two crawlers, wreaking havoc with our schedule. It's too bad the local owls, ravens, and hawks haven't shown an interest in the eggs yet.
